Sustainable Aquaculture: Building a Traceable Supply Chain
Responsible farming practices — organic feed, biosecure systems, reduced water usage through RAS, and blockchain-ready traceability.
Sustainability is at the core of Square Fons’ operations. As global consumers and regulators demand greater transparency, we’ve built our entire operation around responsible practices.
Hatchery-Reared Seed
Traditional soft shell crab farming relies on wild-caught crabs, contributing to population decline in natural habitats. Square Fons uses hatchery-produced seed stock, reducing pressure on wild populations while ensuring consistent supply and genetic quality.
Water Conservation
Our RAS technology recirculates and treats water, using 90% less water than conventional pond systems. This is particularly important in water-stressed regions and aligns with global sustainability goals.
Organic Feed
Crabs are fed natural, organic feed at 8% body weight every 2-3 days. No hormones, antibiotics, or artificial growth promoters are used in our system.
Traceability
Each crab in our system is tracked from hatchery batch through grow-out, molting, processing, and export. Our blockchain-ready traceability system meets the strictest EU and US import requirements, providing buyers with complete confidence in product origin and handling.
Certifications
We are pursuing:
- HACCP certification for our processing facility
- ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management
- EU-compliant traceability standards
- Halal certification
Sustainable aquaculture isn’t just good for the environment — it’s good for business. Premium buyers increasingly demand verified sustainable sourcing, and Square Fons is positioned to deliver.
